A man has been arrested in Maryland after allegedly touching a woman’s genitals and groping her in an apparent attempt to convince her to have an abortion.
State police said Thursday that an investigation revealed that the man, who has been identified as 24-year-old Christopher Pfeifer, allegedly made inappropriate comments to the woman.
He was charged with first-degree assault and third-degree criminal trespass.
The arrest occurred Thursday in the 2400 block of E. Pratt Road in Towson.
The woman was on her way to a health clinic in Toward Towson for an appointment when Pfefer approached her and asked for directions to the clinic, said Lt.
Ryan Kline, a spokesman for the Maryland State Police.
He said the woman left the clinic with Pfeiffer and left her cellphone on the curb.
He did not say what happened to the phone or if she had an attorney.
A state police spokesman said the victim, a Towson resident, called police after hearing the sexual comments.
Police said the suspect was arrested and booked into the Baltimore County Jail on suspicion of first- and third.
The woman, who was not identified, said she did not report the alleged assault until Friday, a day after the arrest.
The state police spokeswoman said the agency had no other information about the alleged incident.
The Associated Press does not usually identify people arrested in sexual assault cases.
State troopers are investigating.
